We are looking to recruit a teacher for our Year 1 class to cover a maternity leave. It is expected that that the position will be available from 4 November 2019 although some flexibility may be required. It would also be preferable for the candidate to be able to attend a CPD day on 1 November as well as spending some time in the class prior to starting in order to ensure an effective handover.

Applications from both experienced and newly qualified teachers are welcome. Recent experience of working in KS1 and an ability to teach phonics effectively are essential.

The position is full time and is expected to be to at least the end of the academic year. Candidates interested in working part-time should also apply as we are also seeking someone to work for two days in our Year 2 class.

Visits to the school prior to applying are encouraged.

Information about the school

The Wells Free School opened in September 2013 with just years R, 1 and 2. We have expanded each year and, in September 2016, we moved into our brand new school building. We are now at full capacity with 168 pupils divided into 7 classes.

With a strong focus on child led learning and a commitment to outdoor learning experiences, the school aims to promote excellence and wellbeing, ensuring that our pupils have a real understanding of their community, both locally and globally. The school was rated good by OFSTED in May 2015.
