We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic person who loves working with children.  You would be working as part of a team to ensure that all children achieve their potential in a happy and safe environment.

We have a vacancy for a Teaching Assistant to join our team of TAs in Key Stage 1 who help pupils requiring additional support.  Experience of working with pupils with difficulties with speech and language or ASD would be an advantage.

The post will involve working in mainstream classes providing 1:1 support for an individual child.  Prior experience is desirable, however, other strengths will be considered.  We are looking for the best possible candidate and can offer a supportive environment where staff induction and training will be provided.

This is a term-time only fixed term contract initially until the end of July 2020 and is based on the child's attendance at school and subject to funding.  Hours will be 32.5 per week, term time only.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

  • Can be flexible and is willing to support children in a variety of situations dependent on the child's needs
  • Is enthusiastic and committed to working with children
  • Wants to work as part of a team - but can also use their own initiative
  • Is competent in basic English & Maths skills
  • Has a minimum of NVQ/CACHE Level 2 (or equivalent), Level 3 desirable 

A further advantage would be:

  • Experience of specific programmes or interventions including Speech, Language and Communication
  • An understanding of ASD - Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • First Aid or experience of supporting children with personal care

Goat Lees Primary School is a one form entry Primary School which opened in September 2013. This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a special learning environment that aims to be at the ‘Heart of the Community’. As a member of the CARE Foundation Trust, we work closely with nine other primary schools across the Ashford District to provide support and opportunities for collaboration across our schools.

Our innovative building has been designed by a collaboration of experienced local headteachers and a nationally nominated architectural company which has created a beautiful space in which to stimulate learning. We have further enhanced our facilities by building a performing arts room with a large outdoor stage as part of our commitment to providing a broad and balanced curriculum.

At Goat Lees, we pride ourselves on ensuring that we have done the very best for all our children and work together to bring out the best in everyone. Our staff, governors, children and parents are all incredibly proud of our achievements and our most recent Ofsted report (January 2020) concluded Goat Lees Primary School continues to be a good school.
