We are looking for a reliable, caring, hard-working, flexible and enthusiastic person to join the Ripplevale Team as a Caretaker. You will assist the Premises Manager in the security, maintenance, gardening and cleaning of the school site.  You will have sound knowledge of Health & Safety including fire safety.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, have a can-do attitude and be hands on in undertaking practical jobs around the school premises. The students’ needs must be at the heart of everything you do, ensuring that you keep them safe by assisting the Premises Manager in maintaining a high standard within the premises. You will be physically fit, able to bend, lift and use ladders.

You will be responsible for opening up the school site in the mornings. You will be on emergency callout in the event of extreme weather, alarm callouts and unforeseen issues that may arise. Flexibility is required especially when deputising for Premises Manager.

We are offering either of the following options for the right candidate. Either a full-time position, 37 hours per week (Monday - Friday) 7 am – 3 pm with half hour unpaid lunch break or a term time position plus 4 weeks to cover premises manager annual leave.

Previous experience of caretaking or similar role is preferred but not essential, as onsite training can be undertaken.

 

Information about the school

Ripplevale School is an independent day special school for pupils aged from 6 to 18 years old who have an EHCP (Education Health Care Plan) with a diagnosis of ASD, often with associated conditions.

Ripplevale School is situated over two sites. Ripplevale Lower School is situated in Broadstairs, teaching a Primary provision and Ripplevale Upper School is based in the village of Ripple near Deal, for our Secondary and Post 16 provision.

We have a committed and dedicated team which includes teachers, teaching assistants, higher level teaching assistants, a range of therapists, administrative staff and support staff. All play a significant role in the education and development of each pupil and work to create a warm, informal, friendly atmosphere in which the pupils feel secure, safe and confident.
