We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and reliable teaching assistant to work as part of our TA team. The role will consist of helping a pupil who needs additional support to become increasingly independent, as well as assisting with the rest of the class.
The successful applicant will have a good standard of spoken English, with English and Maths qualifications to at least a GCSE 'C' grade. This role is for 38 weeks a year, working from 8.45am to 3.15pm five days a week and will be temporary for the remainder of the school year in the first instance. Experience in a TA role is not essential, it is more important that you can show you can build successful relationships with pupils and show an ability to learn quickly.
Our teaching assistants are accountable to the class teacher and SENCO, sharing the responsibility for raising standards and equipping the children with the skills and dispositions to be successful in life.
Our fantastic pupils and positive, committed staff will ensure that you are welcomed into our team of reflective professionals. We are looking for someone who identifies with our ethos – this is not ‘just a job’. If you like the sound of the challenging but hugely rewarding circumstances in which we work, we would love to hear from you.
The School and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children. At interview your motivation for working with children will be explored as well as aspects from your application form. The selection process will also consist of activities including working with some of our pupils. Appointment to this post will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Please apply online through the Kent Teach website, detailing, in your ‘reason for application’, how you fit the person specification. If you are shortlisted, you will be informed by e-mail soon after the closing date.
Bysing Wood is a friendly Community Primary School located on the outskirts of Faversham in the midst of a social housing estate which provides many of its pupils. It is a smaller than average sized primary school which serves an area of high social and economic deprivation. The proportion of pupils eligible for free school meals is high.
The school is growing in popularity, building on a recent successful Ofsted. Currently the school has 160 children on roll, organised into a single form of entry from Reception, to Year 6. A building project to become 2 form entry over the next few years has recently been completed. September 2018 saw the start of a Forest School provision on site.
At Bysing Wood Primary School we value each child as an individual and encourage them to achieve their personal best in a happy, secure, stimulating environment. The displays in school are a major strength and help evidence the rich, relevant, termly topic-based curriculum (with a plethora of visitors and trips) on offer. Our staff are committed to developing the whole child, encouraging learning through knowledge, skills and practical activities. We also support them to become tolerant, respectful and caring individuals who enjoy their work and play and are proud of their achievements.
