This is a fantastic opportunity to manage the premises and grounds at the Tenax School Trust’s new free school, Bishop Chavasse CE Primary School. The role is being advertised at 15 hours per week (6.45am – 9.45am Monday to Friday) based at Bishop Chavasse, but it is likely the role and hours are likely to grow in line with the expansion of the school over the next 5 years. Furthermore, for the right candidate there may be other opportunities to take on site responsibilities at other schools or at central level within the Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the school site (buildings and grounds) to a high standard and ensuring the security, safety and condition of the school site. You will be expected to uphold the school’s positive image within the school community and want to make a difference to children’s lives. The successful candidate will have relevant maintenance experience, desirably in a school setting, a good understanding of health and safety requirements, the ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and site risk assessments and good communication skills.

Information about the school

Bishop Chavasse Church of England Primary School opened in September 2017 as part of the Tenax Schools Trust. The school is a 4-11 Church of England two form entry primary free school located in and mainly serving South Tonbridge (postcode area TN11).

The core of our vision is to create an outstanding Church of England primary school at the heart of local community where all pupils, regardless of background are offered an inspiring curriculum which enables them to master the knowledge and skills they need to achieve their full educational and personal potential.

Our Christian values prevail throughout our school. Bishop Chavasse Church of England Primary School continues to strive to be at the forefront of developing new approaches to learning, embedding the ‘mastery’ approach to primary phase teaching, whilst securing the very best outcomes for all of our pupils.

Our school, which currently provides a high quality education for just Year R and Year 1 pupils this academic year, will welcome new Reception children each September until it reaches capacity in 2022.

Currently operating in temporary buildings, comprising of bright, spacious classrooms and administration blocks which are located on the same site as our permanent school, we are looking forward to moving into our state of the art, permanent accommodation in April 2019 complete with its own food technology room and large bespoke library and forest school area.

Our school has already developed a strong community, and together, staff, parents and children we are flourishing through working, learning and playing together. Providing our children with a rich and varied experiences encourages our children to develop independence and confidence.

Tenax Schools Trust was founded by Bennett Memorial Diocesan School (Bennett) an Outstanding secondary school, located in nearby Tunbridge Wells. Bennett is a designated Teaching School, part of the Altius teaching school alliance which provides significant opportunities for development to staff across the Trust.
