We are seeking to appoint and Academic Coach to work with a small group of  students providing a consistent support to these students enabling them to make progress.

Core responsibilities of the post include;

  • To be assigned to a group of students
  • To attend all academic 'core' lessons with that group of students, and any foundation subjects where support would be appropriate
  • To act as a positive role model, assisting the teachers in supporting the students to achieve and establish good learning habits
  • To fully support the learning in the classroom
  • To assist in identifying the students who are in need of further support or intervention
  • Work closely with the pastoral team and where appropriate act as the main parental liaison
  • To cover the lessons where the teacher is absent for that particular group
  • To undertake intervention work as necessary

Ideally we are looking for someone who has experience of working with young people in an academic setting with good GCSE's in English and Maths (or equivalent).

You should have excellent communication skills and an understanding of the range of 'needs' presented by students who may struggle to make progress at school.  An ability to build positive and effective realtionships with staff and students coupled with a strong work ethos and the ability to plan and prioritise workload would be essential.
