CLEANER

Part-time: 10 hours per week, 47 weeks a year

2 hours per day Monday to Friday, (6.30 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. or 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.),

42 weeks per year plus 5 weeks paid holiday

 

Salary at Kent Range 2:- £8.10 per hour

 

Mayfield Grammar School are looking for a keen and enthusiastic cleaner to join their friendly team. Previous experience of working in a school is desirable, but not essential.

Summary of Job:

Clean and maintain areas of the establishment, under the direction of a senior member of staff to ensure they are kept clean and tidy.

Outline of Main Duties:

  1. Provide a comprehensive cleaning service to include dusting, vacuuming washing floors, emptying bins, etc. to ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene at all times.

 

  1. Maintain clean toilets to ensure hygiene standards are met.

 

  1. Ensure outside grounds are kept free from rubbish and debris so a clean and tidy appearance is maintained.

 

  1. Report any defects to a senior member of staff to ensure health and safety procedures are followed and to enable repairs to be carried out.

 

  1. Undertake, during holiday periods, a complete “spring” clean of all areas including window cleaning, moving furniture to clean behind it, skirting boards, varnishing wooden floors etc., to ensure all areas are clean and fresh.

Information about the school

Mayfield Grammar School, Gravesend is a selective girls’ school with boys in the sixth form which is situated in the town of Gravesend. The school has Specialist Science and Languages College status. In February 2012 MGSG converted to Academy Status. There are circa 1318 students on roll, 323 of whom are in the Sixth Form.

The school was founded in 1914 as the County School for Girls, taking as its motto “Per aspera ad astra” (Through adversity to the stars), and moved to its present site in 1926. The original building with its bell tower, central quadrangle and walled playing fields remains today much as it was then, however the school has enjoyed many modernisations.

The school benefits from a loyal, stable, well qualified and experienced staff who work together as a team. Staff-student relationships flourish in a relaxed and caring environment, where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential. The calm friendly atmosphere, combined with acceptance of the need for hard work, provides a high success rate in public examinations. This gives the school its good reputation and continues the tradition of excellence which began in 1914.
