We are seeking to appoint a part-time Finance/Admin Assistant to join our busy school office. The post is term time only, working a set pattern of 27.00 hours per week as follows:

Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 1.00pm

Friday 8.00am – 4.00pm

Some flexibility may be possible.

We are a happy team, offering a welcoming environment with supportive colleagues and governors and are looking for an enthusiastic individual with the necessary skills and experience to support our busy office.

You will be required to undertake a full range of finance and administrative duties including processing orders, invoices, bank & salary reconciliations, log child absences, lateness and illnesses on a daily basis, document preparation and liaise with the Headteacher and relevant staff where appropriate. The post requires a candidate with proven financial experience, ideally within a school environment.

We are looking for:

  • Someone who can add to the friendly and welcoming office environment as the first point of contact for families and visitors
  • The ability to work under pressure, including maintaining a positive attitude, in a demanding and busy office
  • Well organised and experienced in all aspects of administration and capable of working on your own initiative
  • Excellent IT skills and proficient user of Office applications
  • A team player with a good sense of humour, who has the ability to follow instructions, and consult with colleagues and other adults in the school in an effective way
  • Ability to monitor and prioritise work in an effective and efficient manner
  • Confidence in handling difficult situations and issues with sensitivity and calm, ensuring awareness of the safeguarding of our children, data protection requirements and the need for strict confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to show maturity, tact and discretion bearing in mind the confidential and often sensitive nature of the work undertaken
  • Ability to exchange verbal information clearly and sensitively with children and adults
  • Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a ‘Can-do’ attitude

Information about the school

We are a small, friendly, village primary school with 120 children taught in 6 classes. Our rural location just off the A28 between Ashford and Tenterden means we serve families from the village and the wider area. We have received a Good grading in our most recent Ofsted inspection (June 2023).

Our large site has extensive grounds, which includes a gardening area and large playing field.

We have a friendly, dedicated staff who work seamlessly together as a team, ensuring our children excel through a focus on quality first teaching and pastoral support.
