Middle School Support Officer (Years 8+9)

Hours – 37 hour per week - Term Time only – 38 weeks + 1 INSET day.

Kent Range 6 – Actual salary range £16,435 – £18,028

Start date: 24th September 2018

We have a vacancy for a Middle School Support Officer at Wrotham School. We are looking for an emotionally intelligent and resilient individual who wishes to support the positive development of student welfare, progress and opportunity. The successful candidate will have a passion for education and will be keen to become a key part of our outstanding pastoral provision.

This role is ideal for any candidate who has experience of working in school as part of a pastoral support team. This is a non- teaching role.

The main responsibilities of the role are as follows:

You will work to support the Head of Middle School and the middle school team in their goal to make a positive and measurable impact on progress, behaviour and attendance.

This role includes the following:

  • Building positive relationships with the parents of students in years 8 & 9
  • Working with parents and the attendance officer to ensure good attendance across the two year groups
  • Supporting the Heads of Year in raising student aspirations
  • Safeguarding and student welfare support for designated safeguarding lead
  • Working effectively with the wider safeguarding team in school and with outside agencies to seek support for vulnerable students
  • Working with the Heads of Year to devise individualised progress plans for identified students
  • Using all available data to advise the Heads of Year on students requiring intervention and supporting the arrangement of these interventions
  • Measuring and reporting on impact of academic and pastoral interventions
  • Liaising with Progress Tutors regularly and attending Tutor meetings
  • Making referrals as directed by the Heads of Year and the Leadership Team
  • Monitoring student achievement on the Passport Programme and reporting any concerns to the Heads of Year
  • Supporting the Heads of Year with monitoring of consistency in Tutor Time and in year 8 and 9 lessons
