Southborough CE Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic and organised person to help set up and manage a brand new Breakfast Club provision, based at the school for its pupils. If you are someone who is passionate about all aspects of childcare, keen to develop professionally and are able to bring new ideas to this exciting opportunity, then we would like to hear from you.

As this is a new provision, the role will start as a fixed term contract until 31st August 2018 to assess how successful the facility is. Initially, the role will consist of 6 hours per week, term time only, in preparation for setting up and developing the new club in September. Once the club opens, your hours will increase to 10.75 hours per week, (Monday to Friday 7.15am – 9.00am, plus 2 hours per week to carry out administrative duties).

As the Breakfast Club Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, general welfare and proper conduct of pupils during this period, supervising breakfast and overseeing activities, ensuring a happy and safe environment.

The applicant should ideally have previous experience of working with primary aged children in a school environment and an understanding as to how a busy school community works.

Main duties will include:

  • Set up the administrative procedures and policies necessary for the club to run efficiently and effectively.
  • Lead and manage the daily breakfast club provision to ensure that the quality of childcare provision is of a high standard.
  • Manage and plan for a team of Breakfast Club Assistants and ensure that all work and staff are allocated effectively, organising areas of responsibility.
  • Provide a healthy menu each day.
  • Ensure health and safety of all children and staff in the club including accurate keeping of registers, first aid, medicines, risk assessments, security and fire regulations.
  • Work with the school’s finance team to ensure the provision operates within the allocated budget and all parental fees are paid on time.
  • Promote the Breakfast Club to ensure good income generation.
  • Planning, auditing and ordering of necessary resources.
