We are a small, church primary school with a rising roll currently of 96 children.  We are seeking to temporarily appoint a Teaching Assistant to provide high quality support for our mixed aged Year 1 / year 2 class of 30 children. The initial contract is from the start of term 4 (Monday, 19th February) to the end of term 6 (Friday, 20th July). Recent experience in a primary school setting is desirable.

The role of a teaching assistant requires good organisational, personal and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of children under the supervision of the classteacher, SENCO and Headteacher. You will also need to be flexible in your approach to meet the developing needs and skills of the children. The post holder will also be required to provide lunchtime supervision.

The post is for 30 hours per week (6 hours a day, Monday to Friday) and term time only (38 weeks per year). The pay scale is Kent Range 3 at £15,253 per annum for a full-time position which equates to approximately £10,226 per annum pro rata.

We require a good standard of general education and GCSE qualifications or equivalent in English and Mathematics at Grade C or above.  Verification of qualifications will be required before employment can commence.

A formal interview will take place and will last approximately twenty minutes. Candidates will also undertake a thirty minute English and Maths test and a teaching task with a small group of children.
