Science Technician

Full-time Permanent, 37 hours per week

Between the hours of 08.30 – 17:00 Monday to Friday

Term time only (38 weeks per year) plus 2 INSET days

Salary: Academy Range 4 (£16,717), which equates to £13,913.56 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join The Folkestone Academy as a Science Laboratory Technician, working within a strong and supportive team.

Science Technician duties will include:

  • Preparation of stock solutions and maintain glassware in classrooms
  • Preparing practical lessons prior to lessons and delivering to the classrooms
  • General up-keep of Science Technician laboratory
  • Carrying out regular health and safety checks on laboratories, preparation rooms and stores and provide technical support and health and safety advice to staff and students
  • Implementing procedures and regulations involving safe disposal of waste material

Key requirements:

  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with our existing team is essential.
  • Previous A level technical experience is desirable.
  • Health and Safety legislation and COSHH regulations are essential.
  • Previous laboratory experience and/or a background in science
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines and to communicate successfully with staff and students
