Wanted! An energetic, enthusiastic and motivated teaching assistant to join our friendly and welcoming team at Kennington CE Academy to support a pupil in receipt of High` Needs Funding. The successful candidate will be required to work alongside the pupil to access learning activities in the classroom, in 1:1 sessions to complete specialist programmes and outside at playtimes and lunchtimes.  You will need to be able to work under the direction of the teacher and on your own initiative. 

Previous experience of working with children in a classroom situation is essential. We are looking for a candidate who is willing to work hard and commit time to developing necessary knowledge and skills. The successful candidate will have high expectations of themselves and others and be able to work well in a team. The ideal candidate should also feel comfortable liaising with our SENCO and the child's family.

The successful applicant will have a good standard of spoken English and will have achieved English and Maths GCSE qualifications to at least a 'C' grade. An NVQ Level 3 in Learning Support or Level 3 Teaching Assistant is desirable, or at least a willingness to undertake this qualification. Visits to the school are welcomed. This position is a temporary post which will be linked directly to a particular child and will only be whilst the pupil is at our school. Pay is at KR3, pro-rata term-time only. There will be some full days and some part time days.

Information about the school

Kennington CE Academy is 3 form entry (12 classes) for Key stage 2 of 360 pupils, situated in North Ashford and serving a mixed community of children who are enthusiastic about learning and their school.

We have strong relationships with our feeder Infant school, Downs View and The Towers, our nearest high school. Our church school status has led us to develop close links with the local parish church. We are sponsored by Aquila, the Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust (www.aquilatrust.co.uk)
