Teaching Assistant - SEN

30 hours per week, term time only, including 5 INSET days

Fixed term contract from September 2017 – July 2018 (with further academic years’ contracts dependent on continuation of High Needs Funding)

To start September 2017

Academies Range 3 (£14,599 pro rata), which equates to £10,014.91 per annum

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team from September, working specifically with children in Year 2 with Special Educational Needs.

The role will involve working with children who have social, emotional and mental health needs, some communication and interaction difficulties and who require support with their academic learning needs. Prior experience would be an advantage, although appropriate training will be provided.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience of supporting the inclusion, learning and development of children with Special Educational Needs
  • Be determined to provide the very best outcomes for the children they work with
  • Be able to maintain positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
  • Have effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Know how to effectively support children’s reading, writing and maths knowledge and skills
  • Working closely with class teachers to promote children’s learning and achievement
  • Supervise children at more unstructured times of the school day, engaging them in games and social skills activities
  • Demonstrate a willingness to take on board advice in order to develop further
