Are you looking for your first teaching job in Science? Looking for a supportive and friendly department that cares about their staff and provides bespoke professional development?

Then look no further, come and join us at Herne Bay High School.

We are looking for an enthusiastic NQT to join our department from September. As you can see from the quotes below, we have a proven track record of nurturing and supporting NQTs, many of whom are still with us.

“Having completed my first placement at Herne Bay High I was delighted when I started as an NQT here. The science department have been instrumental in my progression as a teacher. It is an extremely friendly and supportive environment which has allowed me to develop my skills.”

“Herne Bay High staff’s support and positivity have made my NQT year so much easier. Everyone is there to help you.”

We are a community school that Ofsted graded as ‘Good’ in our last inspection and that has a largely comprehensive intake. As we have our own sixth form, we offer curriculum across all three key stages. We are a wholly inclusive school and cater for the full ability range of the students in our locality, finding opportunities to develop the demographic that we serve. We benefit from having superb facilities across the school including such elements as a theatre, cinema, recording studio, sports arena and award winning learning resource centre.

Science is central to the school’s commitment to ensuring high quality learning across the curriculum. We have excellent Science facilities including 8 dedicated fully equipped labs, a large break out space and a dedicated computer area. Most importantly, you would be joining an enthusiastic and supportive team of staff, with both experienced and developing teachers and excellent technicians.

If you feel that this is the place for you please apply.

Please do not apply for this position unless you are as committed to safeguarding, the prevention of extremism and radicalisation; and promoting the welfare of children as we are at Herne Bay High School.  Applicants must be willing to undergo comprehensive child protection screening including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service. The above position includes membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Information about the school

Herne Bay High School is a large hugely successful Single Academy Trust that serves the Herne Bay coastal area of North Kent. We have a comprehensive intake and are significantly oversubscribed in all year groups and in June 2022 Ofsted rated the school good with an Outstanding 6th form provision. Whilst academic rigour and examination success is at the forefront of our development, we passionately believe that a broad, balanced approach to education is important and as such we place great emphasis on the Creative and Performing Arts, Technology, and Sport as a key part of a young person’s early educational journey. Herne Bay High School is also a champion of collaborative practice, with current memberships to the East Kent Learning Alliance (EKLA), East Kent Schools Together Network (EKST), and the Coastal Alliance Co-Operative Trust (CACOT). Due to continual growth, we are looking to recruit a passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated leader, who can contribute to the continued development of the school. All staff joining HBHS will benefit from • High quality personalised professional development • Fantastic career opportunities • Full programme of induction and support • Being part of a school that values it employees • Complimentary Benenden Health Care
