HR Assistant (maternity cover)

27.5 hours/week, Term-time only (39 weeks)

Kent Range 5 £11,070 – 12,175 (£17,651 - £19,414 Full-time Equivalent)

We are seeking a highly professional and organised administrator, ideally with HR and/or school experience, to cover a maternity leave. The role is to start March 2017 until December 2017.

This position reports into a HR Manager and involves providing a HR service to two schools; The Malling School and The Holmesdale School. The successful candidate will be required to split their time equally between the two schools, so the ability to drive and have access to your own transport is essential.

Both schools are 11-18 co-educational schools. Holmesdale is located in Snodland and The Malling School is in East Malling. Along with HR, Finance and IT services are also provided across both schools. Therefore, this is an exciting opportunity to join an enthusiastic and hard-working shared business services team.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The ability to deal with staff enquiries in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work across two different sites, ideally with own transport
  • To maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times
  • A calm manner to deal with all situations.
  • An excellent telephone manner
  • Excellent typing skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages.
  • The ability to work with colleagues as part of a team, to be flexible, adaptable and to multi-task.
  • Good level of general education at Level 2 qualification or above.
  • Awareness of data protection

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience of working in a school environment
  • Experience of SIMS (Schools Information Management System)

Training will be given where appropriate to enable the post holder to acquire the necessary skills.

Information about the school

A mixed 11-19 co-educational High School of 1000 pupils serving the historic market town of West Malling and surrounding villages. The school is set in pleasant rural surroundings and has its own lake and extensive grounds. It was completely re-built in September 2007 and therefore has outstanding facilities.

West Malling is close to the county town of Maidstone and has excellent rail links to London and Ashford International (for the Continent).
