TEACHER OF ENGLISH - Full Time

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative and inspirational teacher of English to join our highly successful, selective school from either Easter or September 2017 (please can applicant specify which of the starting times they are applying for; please note this vacancy appears twice on Kent Teach to ensure applicants are aware of the option of 2 start dates).

You must be passionate about your subject and have the drive to maintain our superb academic results in addition to developing a thriving extra-curricular programme.  This role is suitable for experience teacher or NQT's.

This is reflected in our approach to teaching and learning and as a teacher of English the successful candidate will be central to continuing to instil this ethos in our students.

Our curriculum:

At Key Stage 3 we offer students a wide and challenging sequence of units.   In year 7 we build on the literacy skills taught at primary school; by the end of the year the students will have the confidence to write analytical, literary essays. Year 8 continues to develop those skills through a variety of challenging texts. In Year 9 we aim to develop students’ wider reading and non-fiction skills in preparation for the transition to the GCSE course.

Students in Key Stage 4 currently study the OCR GCSE English Language and Literature specifications which progress onto the OCR A-Level course in the Sixth from, one of the most popular A-Level subjects in the school.

Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School is a highly respected selective Voluntary Controlled Girls’ Grammar School that places students’ academic success on a par with their wellbeing, creating a unique learning community where every individual matters. Students attending the school are aged between 11-18 years and the school has a student roll of about 1,300 students (with approx. 400 pupils in our mixed Sixth Form).
