Advert

St John’s Church of England Primary School in Canterbury is looking for an experienced Early Years teacher, who has a good knowledge of SEN to join their hard working specialist team in our Rainbow Provision.

The children in Rainbow Room are not only given personalised learning but a structured, supportive environment where they can be happy, develop confidence and achieve their full potential.

Through a broad and balanced curriculum and, through the use of a wide range of teaching methods and styles the rainbow room aims to meet the needs of all learners.

We provide opportunities to develop independence and social skills; opportunities for inclusion into mainstream and prepare pupils for full-time mainstream education whenever possible.

The provision you will be working with consists of maximum of 7 pupils with a range of needs. The support this school offers is excellent; the successful candidate will be assisted by a higher level teaching assistant and this vacancy can be part time (mornings only). You must have a good understanding of EYFS curriculum and have strong classroom and behaviour management skills. It is desirable that you have worked with ASD/SLD children previously and have experience of using Makaton to support with communication. You must be patient, empathetic and have a good sense of humour. The school also offers excellent CPD so you can continue to grow and develop as a teacher. This role will begin in January and it will run for the whole academic year; however this could be made a permanent contract for the right person.
