We are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team at Goat Lees Primary School.

Goat Lees Primary School opened in September 2013 and currently has around 170 children on roll. This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a special learning environment that aims to be at the ‘Heart of the Community’.

We wish to appoint to the following post from Term 3 2015/16 (starts 4 January 2016) or sooner if available:

This post is term time only but includes staff development days (39 weeks per annum).  Hours are 32.5 per week.

Pay: Kent Range 3 (£14,952 - £16,633 pro rata)

We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic person who loves working with children. You would be working as part of a team to ensure that all children achieve their potential in a happy and safe environment.

You must have a high standard of spoken and written English and Mathematics up to GCSE equivalent. You should be a good and effective communicator with both children and adults, friendly and approachable, able to work on your own initiative and with good time management skills. There is an expectation that Teaching Assistants support lunchtime activities and there will be additional hours available for those who can offer support for the School Breakfast Club. A flexible approach is essential as all staff need to be prepared to adapt to suit the needs of the children and the School as we grow and develop.

Of course a sense of humour also helps!

Candidates must have relevant experience and qualifications/training relating to supporting learning in school e.g. NVQ level 2 or 3 in Child Care and Education/Supporting Teaching and Learning.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

  • Wants to work as part of a team
  • Can be flexible and is willing to support children in a variety of situations
  • Is willing to support children with medical conditions (training provided)
  • Has enthusiasm and absolute commitment

A further advantage would be:

  • Having experience of specific programmes or interventions
  • Additional skills or interests that would support the wider curriculum; IT, sports, gardening, creative activities
  • First Aid or experience of supporting children with personal care

Goat Lees Primary School is a one form entry Primary School which opened in September 2013. This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a special learning environment that aims to be at the ‘Heart of the Community’. As a member of the CARE Foundation Trust, we work closely with nine other primary schools across the Ashford District to provide support and opportunities for collaboration across our schools.

Our innovative building has been designed by a collaboration of experienced local headteachers and a nationally nominated architectural company which has created a beautiful space in which to stimulate learning. We have further enhanced our facilities by building a performing arts room with a large outdoor stage as part of our commitment to providing a broad and balanced curriculum.

At Goat Lees, we pride ourselves on ensuring that we have done the very best for all our children and work together to bring out the best in everyone. Our staff, governors, children and parents are all incredibly proud of our achievements and our most recent Ofsted report (January 2020) concluded Goat Lees Primary School continues to be a good school.
