Salary: up to £27,876 (35 hours per week)

St. Andrew's School is a thriving independent school in the heart of Rochester, educating children from Pre-School through to Year 6. Set across four beautiful Victorian buildings, our site is full of character and no two days are ever the same.

We are looking for a dedicated Caretaker to join our friendly Site Team. This is far more than a maintenance role – you'll be a key member of our school community, helping to ensure our pupils and staff enjoy a safe, secure and welcoming environment every day.

Working alongside our Lead Caretaker, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day upkeep of our school, supporting everything from planned maintenance and compliance checks to school events, contractor management and site security.

What you'll be doing

You'll play an important role in keeping the school operating smoothly by:

• Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the school.
• Ensuring the site is safe, secure and ready each day for pupils and staff.
• Maintaining our grounds and external areas to a high standard.
• Driving the school minibus for educational visits and school activities when required.
• Helping with the practical side of school events and daily operations.
• Responding calmly and effectively to unexpected maintenance issues when they arise.

About you

We're looking for someone who:

• Enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
• Has experience in caretaking, property maintenance or a similar role.
• Is organised, reliable and able to prioritise a varied workload.
• Understands the importance of health & safety, compliance and safeguarding.
• Works well independently and as part of a close-knit team.
• Has excellent communication skills and enjoys helping others.
• Holds a full UK driving licence and is willing to obtain a D1 licence if required (training will be provided).
