Hartlip Endowed Church of England Primary School is seeking a reliable, practical and community-minded Caretaker to join our friendly village school team.

This part-time role offers a minimum of 10 hours per week and would be ideal for a retired or semi-retired person, or someone looking for an additional part-time position. We can be flexible with working hours to meet both the needs of the school and the successful candidate. A key requirement of the role is the daily securing of the school site at approximately 6.00pm. The remaining hours can be arranged flexibly throughout the week to accommodate routine maintenance, site checks and the day-to-day operational needs of the school.

Hartlip Endowed CE Primary School is a small, welcoming village school situated between Sittingbourne and Rainham. Inspired by our founder, Mary Gibbon, we are a nurturing school community where every child is encouraged to recognise and develop their God-given gifts and abilities. Our Christian values of Friendship, Forgiveness, Trust, Peace and Thankfulness underpin all that we do, creating a happy, safe and supportive environment for children, staff and families.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the school remains a safe, secure and welcoming environment. Duties will include securing and opening the site as required, carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs, monitoring health and safety requirements, liaising with contractors, undertaking site checks, handling deliveries and supporting the general upkeep of the school premises and grounds.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is trustworthy, dependable and able to work independently.
  • Has practical maintenance and DIY skills.
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards.
  • Understands the importance of health and safety.
  • Enjoys being part of a close-knit and supportive school community.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a caring and successful village school where your work will have a direct impact on the daily experience of our children and staff.
