Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant – The Meadow Inclusion Base

The post is for 30 hours per week (8:30 – 3:30 Monday to Friday) term time only. 1yr contract intially.

Pay details: KSE £29,167

Pro rata based on working 30 hours per week 38 weeks per year £20,084.96 

We are seeking a dedicated, skilled and compassionate Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant to join The Meadow Inclusion Base, our specialist provision supporting pupils with Complex Communication & Interaction (C&I) and Cognition & Learning (C&L) needs.

The successful candidate need not have previous primary school experience. Experience working in a Portage role or EYFS SEN pre-school role would be ideal.

The Role

As a Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SEND professionals and families to support pupils with complex needs. You will play a key role in delivering personalised learning, promoting independence and ensuring every child feels valued, understood and successful.

You will:

    • Provide high-quality support for pupils with complex Communication & Interaction and Cognition & Learning needs.
    • Deliver targeted interventions and personalised learning programmes.
    • Support pupils’ communication, social development and emotional wellbeing.
    • Adapt resources and strategies to meet individual needs.
    • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families and external agencies.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive and aspirational learning environment.
  • Support care needs of the children.

  • Has experience of working with children with SEND, particularly Communication & Interaction and Cognition & Learning needs.
  • Is patient, empathetic and resilient.
  • Has strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Works effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Brings enthusiasm, warmth and a genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential.
