Information about the school

We are a growing academy and very fortunate to have a new spacious, attractive and modern building. Inside, we have well resourced classrooms that foster challenging and independent learning, an inviting library that also houses a range of musical instruments, a studio for cooking, art and design and a large hall. Outside, we have an expansive field, MUGA, trim trail and areas for outdoor learning across the curriculum. The Early Years classes have their own outdoor areas allowing them to continue their learning and development in a safe, purposeful environment but also have access to all other areas as appropriate.

A broad and balanced curriculum is at the heart of an aspirational and successful academy and we enhance our curriculum provision through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). This is an inquiry based learning framework that fosters independent learners and posits personal success as essential for academic achievement, nurturing independent learners who continue to thrive.

We are fortunate to be part of an extensive team as proud members of Leigh Academies Trust and leaders in the academy and across the Trust, drive to improve educational standards for all. This means we have access to an unprecedented wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise to support us in our determination for all pupils to be happy and successful. Furthermore, with the Trust’s contemporary approach to using cutting edge technology and resources to both enhance and break down barriers to learning, we are able to prepare children for the technological world they will be responsible for shaping.

Community is at our core and every stakeholder, near and far, is integral to the continuing success of Leigh Academy Bearsted pupils.

Leigh Academy Bearsted will nurture open-minded, successful learners who embody the Learner Profile Attributes in their learning, actions and life.

Our recent Ofsted report from January 2023 confirms that our overall effectiveness is Outstanding! They confirmed that our pupils behave well here and they know what is expected of them. They know the rules and are disappointed when they are broken. They told inspectors that they feel safe, including from bullying.

We would love to meet you, so please contact us to arrange a visit and see for yourself.
