Initial Fixed Term Contract for 1 academic year

Having secured external funding through KCC’s Communities of Schools we are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work closely with a Key Stage 3, Foundation Skills specialist pathway class.

The role will involve working with students aged 11 - 14 who have a range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities with many of the students having Education Health Care Plans.

The successful candidate will be ideally confident to support student learning experiences across all areas of need and work with our specialist SEND teachers in and out of classrooms.  You will become part of a team around a specific class and have students you are a trusted adult and key worker for.  The role is heavily student facing but does require contributions to student reviews and associated paper work throughout the year.

It is necessary for the candidate to have qualifications in Maths/Numeracy or English/Literacy equivalent to at least NVQ Level 2.

In return, you will enjoy a unique working environment in the beautiful town of Tenterden in the heart of the Weald of Kent. We invest in our staff and you will be given a full induction programme and continuous coaching support to help you progress throughout your career.  All staff are provided with an IT device, discounts and offers with Kent Rewards, enhanced pension contributions and there is a nursery based on the school site which offers discounts to Tenterden Schools Trust Staff.

Closing date: 12th July 2026, however early applications are encouraged as we review applications as we receive them.

The school is situated on the edge of Tenterden and enjoys a large semi-rural site overlooking open countryside. Home Farm Nursery is based in the grounds of Homewood School.

Homewood has excellent facilities for all its students and our specialisms in Performing Arts, Applied Learning and the Rural Dimension underpin our approaches to learning which are designed to raise achievement across the whole student body. We aim to maintain and develop the cultural aspirations of the school community in line with our priorities of “belonging” and “respect” and offer a broad range of curriculum opportunities in all subject areas. This also extends into the local community through partnerships across primary, secondary and higher education sectors as well as non-educational community partners.

Homewood provides a secure and caring learning environment in which all students can flourish and succeed. It is a school renowned for its support for students’ wellbeing.
