We are seeking a highly organised and professional Clerk to support our Governing Body in our friendly and nurturing Church of England Junior School.  This important role supports the effective and compliant leadership of the school, helping our governors focus on delivering the best outcomes for our pupils within a caring, Christian environment.  The role can be worked flexibly but the contract will be based on an average of 3-4 hours per week in term time.  There are approximately 12 governing body meetings per year and these are generally held after school hours, although flexibility to work at other times may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organising and clerking at full governing body, committee meetings and any appeal hearings
  • Preparing agendas, attending meetings and taking accurate minutes, distribution of documents
  • Providing guidance on governance procedures, legal duties and compliance
  • Maintaining records, statutory information and governor documentation
  • Supporting governor recruitment, induction and development
  • Ensuring safeguarding, data protection and statutory requirements are met
  • Management of dedicated generic clerk and governor email accounts
  • Organisation and management of the school’s GovernorHub account

 We are looking for someone who:

  • Is highly organised with excellent communication and IT skills
  • Can provide clear, confident advice and maintain confidentiality
  • Has strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines
  • Is committed to supporting effective governance (experience desirable but not essential)

Information about the school

We are a Church of England Aided Junior school, situated in the heart of Whitstable. We are a two form entry school with a total of eight classes. Locally we are known as 'The Endowed' and we describe ourselves as an old school with a young heart. Last year we celebrated our 180th birthday!

Our children come from all sorts of different backgrounds. Our parents, friends, governors and our local churches give amazing support and this, together with the dedication of an experienced and caring staff, make The Endowed the 'Outstanding' school that it is.
