We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and student-focused individual to join our successful Sixth Form team as a Sixth Form Student Study Support and Opportunities Coordinator.

This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of our Sixth Form provision. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students to achieve their academic potential, develop independent study skills and access the wide range of opportunities available to them as they prepare for university, apprenticeships and future careers.

You will oversee directed study sessions, support student attendance and engagement, monitor academic progress and work closely with students, tutors, teachers and pastoral staff to ensure every student receives the guidance and support they need to succeed.

The role also offers exciting opportunities to contribute to careers guidance, university applications, enrichment programmes, the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), and wider Sixth Form events, including enrolment and results days. In addition, the successful candidate will provide classroom cover across the school when required.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential
  • Can build positive relationships with students, staff and parents
  • Is confident using data and tracking systems to monitor progress
  • Has a proactive and solution-focused approach
  • Is able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Has experience of working with young people in an educational setting (desirable)

In return, we offer:

  • A welcoming and supportive Sixth Form team
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth
  • The chance to make a significant difference to students' educational journeys
  • A positive and ambitious school community committed to excellence and inclusion

If you are passionate about supporting young people and would like to play a key role in helping our Sixth Form students thrive, we would love to hear from you.

How to apply:

Please see our website www.opgs.org for more information and an application form. Completed application forms should be sent to jnichol@opgs.org for the attention of the Headteacher by the closing date of midday on Monday 6th July 2026.

Applications will only be accepted on the school application form: CVs and other forms are not accepted.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

OPGS is committed to creating an inclusive workforce. We welcome applications from all individuals regardless of background, identity, or personal circumstances and we actively promote equality of opportunity for all.

We reserve the right to interview and appoint candidates before the closing date, therefore early applications are encouraged.

Information about the school

Oakwood Park Grammar School is a five-form entry (usually 160 in each year) Boys’ Grammar School of currently 1095 students. We have a co-educational Sixth Form of 311 students. Entry at 11 to the school is through the Kent Test (11+) where students sit three papers in Mathematics, English and Reasoning.

We have been on the site since 1959 and we share an attractive campus with two schools (St Augustine Academy and St Simon Stock) and a college of Further Education (Mid-Kent College). This gives the site a unique feel with over four thousand students.

Our teaching and support staff are dedicated and hardworking and very loyal to the school.

Oakwood Park Grammar School has a wealth of extra-curricular activities for its students. Sport is very strong with national success in football, alongside rugby, cricket, basketball and athletics. We also cater for rowing, fencing, table tennis and climbing. Music and Drama are also popular with an annual production. We also have other extra-curricular activities such as robotics, debating and chess.

Academic standards are high at both GCSE and A Level. In the Sixth Form, on average, well over half of our students who apply to universities will secure offers from prestigious Russell Group universities and we regularly send students to Oxbridge colleges.

We were graded Good overall by Ofsted but did achieve Outstanding for our Behaviour and our Sixth Form provision.

We are a welcoming, open school with a clear focus on developing staff, with teaching and learning at the heart of our professional development.
