Caretaker Vacancy (Part-Time – 20 Hours per Week, Flexible Hours)

We are looking for a practical, proactive and hands-on Caretaker to join our friendly and dedicated school team.

This is a part-time role (20 hours per week) with flexible working hours, offering a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented environment

About the Role:

As our Caretaker you will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the school, ensuring everything is safe, functional, and welcoming for our pupils and staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • General site maintenance and repairs, including basic plumbing, DIY, and minor improvements
  • Carrying out routine compliance checks (e.g. fire alarms, water temperature monitoring, emergency lighting, health & safety checks)
  • Ensuring the security of the premises, including opening/closing procedures
  • Caretaking duties and site upkeep
  • Undertaking some cleaning duties, particularly in outdoor and shared areas
  • Maintaining a safe, tidy and well-presented school environment at all times

About You:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong practical DIY skills (e.g. plumbing, basic repairs, maintenance tasks)
  • Has experience in site management, caretaking, maintenance or cleaning roles
  • Is reliable, self-motivated and takes pride in their work
  • Can carry out and record health & safety and statutory compliance checks
  • Has good communication skills and can work independently
  • Is flexible and able to respond to the varied needs of a busy school

Experience working in a school would be an advantage, but is not essential.
