Our community values kindness, ambition and a commitment to giving every child the best possible start. We follow the OFSTED (2025) inspection framework and are focused on strong safeguarding, inclusion and high-quality leadership to drive continued school improvement.

About the role

As Business Manager you will lead and manage the school’s business and support functions, ensuring efficient and effective delivery across:

  • Finance: budget planning, forecasting, reporting and ensuring value for money across contracts and procurement.
  • Human Resources: recruitment, induction, performance management and support for staff-related processes.
  • Premises, Health & Safety: overseeing maintenance programmes, compliance with legislation, site development and lettings.
  • Administration & Admissions: improving and maintaining administrative systems, managing admissions and maintaining accurate pupil records (Arbour).
  • GDPR & Compliance: acting as Data Protection Lead, managing SARs and data breaches, liaising with the DPO.
  • Extended Care and community activities: overseeing the development and daily management of Extended Care provision.
  • Marketing & Communications: promoting the school and engaging with stakeholders to enhance our reputation.

You will be line manager for the admin and site teams and report to the Headteacher. This is a 37-hour week role across 42 weeks per year and offers a real chance to influence strategic decision-making as a valued member of the Senior Leadership Team.

We are looking for a motivated, organised and commercially minded professional who can combine strong operational expertise with collaborative leadership. You will bring:

  • Proven experience in school/business financial management, including budget planning, monitoring and financial reporting.
  • Strong HR and people management skills, with the ability to support and develop support staff effectively.
  • Confident knowledge of health & safety, premises management and compliance responsibilities.
  • A clear understanding of data protection (GDPR) duties and experience managing SARs and data incidents.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills, able to prioritise and manage projects to deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach, working across the Senior Leadership Team and with governors to shape strategy and improvement.
  • Relevant professional qualification (Level 5 Diploma or equivalent in school business management, accountancy qualification or similar) is required.
