A popular and thriving primary school is seeking to appoint a SEND Learning Support Assistant for 28.75 hours per week to support pupils in our Woodland Class provision, the school’s internal specialist setting for children with complex SEND.

This is a temporary position, to be reviewed in August 2027 subject to funding. The role is Monday to Friday, 8:45am to 3:15pm (less a 45-minute unpaid break), term-time only. The position is paid at KSB (£26,822 FTE / £13.90 per hour). The pro-rata pay is approximately £17,700.

We are looking to appoint an experienced, flexible and resilient individual to join our friendly and supportive team. This role involves supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, including communication, sensory and behavioural needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and independence within a structured, inclusive and nurturing SEND-focused environment.

Applicants will need to demonstrate high standards of professionalism, including motivation, reliability, punctuality, presentation and teamwork. The ability to follow direction is essential, alongside the confidence to use initiative when responding to pupils’ individual needs throughout the school day.

Experience of working with children with SEND is essential, ideally within a specialist or complex needs setting. Applicants should hold an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in supporting teaching and learning.

In return, we offer a friendly and supportive working environment, complimentary refreshments, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), a free annual flu vaccination, access to Kent Rewards, and up to 6 wellbeing/reward days per annum.

We are an inclusive, caring and constantly improving school with an exceptionally strong collaborative staff team. Our current roll is 670 children with 3 classes per year group, group teaching in KS2 to facilitate smaller class provision, a purpose built on-site nursery and a strong Well-Being Team, FLO, Play Therapist and Emotional Well-Being practitioner to provide the support and nurture for our most vulnerable children.

Hampton has its own additional learning environment for identified children typically with EHCPs to support their access to the curriculum as well as supporting their emotional and social development.
