Our approach combines therapeutic education, outdoor learning, academic pathways and practical life skills to create meaningful learning experiences that help every student to thrive. We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and practical outdoor learning & SEND support assistant to join our team. As a full time Learning Mentor you will work alongside our teaching staff and theraputic teams to support students both in the classroom and through outdoor learning activities. You will play a key role in building positive relationships, supporting emotional regulation, and helping students engage with education in creative and practical ways. This role is ideal for someone who is energetic, open minded, hands on and passionate about making a difference to young people with aditional needs.

If you are looking for a challenge, are a confident team player who is able to demonstrate previous succes in working with children, can evidence using your own initiative to support successful learning and demonstrate the ability to support a positive and relational approach to behaviour support with a calm and friendly manner then we would welcome your application.

Information about the school

Learning Opportunities is a small independent specialist school for students with a wide range of additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH), autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and moderate learning difficulties. We are registered to provide education for 36 students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP), aged 10 to 16 years of age (Key Stages 2,3,4). All students have, for a variety of reasons, found it difficult to achieve their full potential in other settings.

Our dedicated staff team, who have a range of expertise, are passionate about providing the best possible opportunities and outcomes for all of our students.

Many of our visitors comment on the positive ethos of the school – calm, focused and happy, where appropriate and positive relationships between staff and students are clearly evident.
