Information about the school

Hawkhurst CE Primary School is very proud to be a Nurture UK School. We pride ourselves on our caring ethos and the mental health and well-being support we offer to pupils, staff and families. We have a new purpose built nurture room on site. The school benefits from spacious classrooms and plentiful resources with exciting school grounds, incorporating a secret garden, an adventure playground, a Forest School, a pond area and a large sports field. Our last Ofsted inspection (January 2023) graded us as Good with Outstanding for Behaviour and Attitudes and Outstanding for Personal Development.

Our pupils are eager to learn and succeed. Our goal is for every child to reach their full potential and this is achieved through trips to places of interest and visits from outside speakers, as well as the opportunity to participate in sports tournaments and events. We are passionate about music and our KS2 children have the opportunity to learn a brass instrument at no cost. We can also offer piano, singing and guitar lessons throughout the school. We have a hugely successful school choir who enjoy preparing and singing at The Young Voices Concert each year at the 02 Arena.

Outdoor learning is high on our list of priorities. EYFS spend an afternoon a week in our own Forest School and Years 1 - 6 have an afternoon every 3 weeks. We have an outdoor classroom which is set up to hold up to two classes at a time and we encourage each class to care for a little allotment area.

The staff team is friendly and caring. We encourage professional development in areas that will enhance the professional skills of our teachers as well as support staff and improve the aims of the school.

Prospective members of staff are encouraged to come and meet us and to view the school before making application for a post.
