Looking to develop your career in a Primary Federation with a variety of potential teaching and leadership opportunities?  Goudhurst & Kilndown and Benenden CE Primary Schools federated in April 2020 to become the 10:10 Primary Federation. We are looking for passionate educators to join the teaching staff at our Goudhurst and Kilndown school.

Are you an aspiring ECT looking for your first teaching role? Or perhaps an experienced teacher with subject leadership experience that is hungry for greater challenge and responsibility? If so, then we may be the place for you. We are looking for a class-teacher to join our staff team for September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for the ideal candidate.

As a staff, we share the belief that all pupils, regardless of their conditions in life, can achieve excellent outcomes when surrounded and supported by talented teachers with high expectations and purpose driven parents and carers. We know that learning in primary school can transform a child's life. We are looking for highly adventurous, energetic and innovative individuals, with leadership potential, who will embody and model the core values of our Federation - Curiosity, Courage, Compassion and Commitment. As a school, we are proud of our commitment to outdoor learning; our drive to deliver curriculum excellence and our broad, balanced and varied opportunities and experiences offer for all our pupils.

In your application, tell us about your skills, knowledge and experience, and what you would you bring to our team. Do you have any particular curriculum strengths and experience of subject leadership?

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has an innovative and creative approach to teaching and learning.
  • Is passionate about collaborative practice.
  • Has a strong team-ethos.
  • Is a resilient and reflective practitioner.
  • Is ‘outward facing’ in terms of their attitude towards evidence-based practice in school.
  • Has an interest or experience in outdoor learning/leading Forest School.
  • Is committed to supporting extra-curricular activities.
  • Strives for excellence.
  • Could be considered for a role from EYFS through to Year 6.

In return, we can offer:

  • an attractive and extremely well-resourced working environment;
  • a well-structured and sequenced curriculum;
  • an inclusive approach to supporting all our pupils;
  • our six principles of teaching, which underpin our approach to highly effective teaching, learning and curriculum design;
  • a highly motivated and dedicated team of staff who are committed to school improvement;
  • a well thought through professional learning plan;
  • pupils who are motivated, give their best and enjoy all that school can offer;
  • a supportive governing and parent body;
  • a school with a community-feel at its heart;
  • a range of year group options, for the ideal candidate.

Visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged - come and see us in action! For more information, or to arrange a visit, please contact the school office on 01580 211365 or email the Acting Headteacher via ryan.laker@goudhurst-kilndown.kent.sch.uk

Information about the school

Information about the 10:10 Primary Federation The 10:10 Primary Federation has been formed through the collaboration of Goudhurst and Kilndown and Benenden CE Primary Schools, both situated in small picturesque villages in the Weald of Kent.

Goudhurst and Kilndown Primary School is a one-form entry school, with 215 pupils on roll. We were graded as Outstanding, across all areas, during our Ofsted inspection in February 2025. We are also proud of our SIAMS grading, which is also graded as 'Outstanding'. The catchment area is varied, with children from a mix of neighbouring backgrounds. Both our schools are very well equipped and our facilities are excellent. In September 2019, Benenden moved into a brand new building.

As a Federation, we place high value on developing the ‘whole child’. Academically, we offer a broad and balanced curriculum, rich with outdoor learning opportunities; we have established Forest Schools which all children experience. Children's wellbeing and mental health is of an equal high priority; the learning and pastoral support from within and outside of the schools fully support this.
