A rare opportunity to build something exceptional

Tiger Primary School is seeking an ambitious and strategic Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion to join our leadership team.

This is not a typical inclusion role.

We are investing in the creation of a bespoke Enhanced Transition Environment (ETE) — a fully resourced, in-house provision designed to transform outcomes for pupils who need a different pathway to succeed.

The successful candidate will design, lead and implement this provision from the ground up — shaping the environment, systems, staffing model and practice.

If you are driven by impact, innovation and the opportunity to leave a legacy, this role offers a genuinely unique platform.

The opportunity

You will:

  • Establish and lead a brand-new Enhanced Transition Environment (ETE) within the school
  • Shape a provision grounded in evidence-informed practice (including EEF implementation guidance)
  • Design systems for identification, transition, intervention and reintegration
  • Build and develop a high-performing inclusion team
  • Drive measurable improvements in attendance, behaviour, engagement and outcomes
  • Ensure inclusion is not a bolt-on, but fully integrated into the core of school improvement
  • This is a chance to move beyond managing systems — and instead build one that works.

Your wider leadership role

Alongside the ETE, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership of SEND and inclusion
  • Line manage the SENDCo and wider SEND team, ensuring clarity, accountability and impact
  • Lead the school’s Pupil Premium strategy, securing strong outcomes for disadvantaged pupils
  • Work closely with the attendance team to address barriers and improve engagement
  • Influence whole-school practice so that quality-first teaching meets the needs of all learners

What we are looking for

We are seeking a leader who:

  • Has a strong track record of improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils
  • Understands how to translate research into practice
  • Can design and implement systems with clarity, precision and measurable impact
  • Is confident in holding teams to account while developing capacity
  • Is motivated by building provision, not just maintaining it
  • Brings energy, clarity and conviction to inclusion leadership
  • Works in a supportive, driven Senior Leadership Team

Why Tiger Primary School?

  • A clear commitment to inclusion with purpose and impact
  • Full support from the Headteacher and Trust to develop the ETE vision
  • Dedicated budget and flexibility to design the provision
  • A school culture rooted in The Tiger Way: positivity, respect, independence, determination and excellence
  • Access to high-quality professional development, including NPQ qualifications (e.g. NPQSEND)
