St Saviour’s Church of England Junior School, Westgate on Sea is seeking a Headteacher who supports our strong Christian ethos and shares our vision that learning is for life. The successful candidate would ideally have a collaborative, supportive and nurturing management style and will lead with humility. This role would particularly suit an experienced senior leader who is ready to take the next step into headship.

As our Headteacher, you will work closely with the Governing body and staff to ensure our strong sense of community, where every child is known, valued and supported, is allowed to flourish and that each of our young people will be supported academically, socially and spiritually.

Information about the school

St Saviours Church of England Junior School, Westgate on Sea has approximately 350 pupils and demand for places has been consistently high, reflecting the school’s strong reputation locally.It has an enviable reputation as a welcoming, caring and high-performing junior school at the heart of its community.

We are situated in the seaside town of Westgate-on-Sea on the north Kent coast where we are blessed with several blueflag sandy beaches and the nearby vibrant art scene of Margate. We attract children from the two distinct areas of the town which are separated by the main A28. To the south is a large municipal housing estate built in the 1970s and although many of these properties are now privately owned, many remain under the control of the local authority and is home to a substantial proportion of deprived families. To the north is the more prosperous part of the town with substantial family homes in tree lined avenues.

St. Saviour’s fosters a strong sense of community and belonging. We instill a sense of calmness within our school environment, just as Jesus calmed the storm, which we believe extends into the wider community. Our progressive curriculum exposes children to new experiences which gives every child the opportunity to achieve their potential. The school was judged Good by Ofsted in October 2023 with the OFSTED Inspector commenting that :

St Saviour’s pupils thrive in this welcoming school. They feel happy and safe and know that staff will be fair and consistent when solving any problems they may have. The school places great importance on the teaching of values such as acceptance and tolerance and pupils demonstrate these qualities through their kind support of each other.

The school has recently designed an ambitious curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils well. Pupils are keen to meet teachers’ high behaviour expectations and love to earn rewards.
