Hours:  37.5 per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30am – 4.00pm
Salary:  £25,000.00 per annum (not pro rata)

About the Role

The Family Liaison Officer (FLO) plays a central role in strengthening engagement, wellbeing and safeguarding for pupils and families at Heath Farm College. Working proactively with vulnerable families, external professionals and college staff, the FLO helps remove barriers to learning and promotes positive outcomes for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role also includes key responsibilities within admissions and safeguarding, including acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable families, providing tailored support and acting as a consistent point of contact for the college.
  • Work closely with external agencies and services to coordinate effective multi-agency support and safeguard pupil welfare.
  • Lead on parental engagement and transition support, including home visits and ongoing communication before, during and after admissions.
  • Play a core role in the admissions process, supporting assessments, coordinating visits and ensuring the secure transfer and management of student records.
  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, supporting safeguarding processes, referrals, compliance with KCSIE and a culture of vigilance across the college.
  • Serve as Child Missing from Education (CME) Lead, monitoring attendance, identifying risk and developing action plans to re-engage pupils.
  • Provide direct support to pupils with SEMH needs, contributing to EHCPs, wellbeing plans and positive behaviour and reward systems.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders and staff to promote attendance, wellbeing, inclusion and a safe, supportive learning environment.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A full UK driving licence
  • English and Maths Grade 4 and above preferred but not essential

Heath Farm College is situated in Maidstone and has capacity to support up to 58 students. The provision facilitates a professional post 16 provision for students with EHCPs who are not ready for a large FE college or large school/academy 6th Form provision.
