We Are Looking For…

A passionate Specialist Provision Lead & skilled teacher – You will lead the preparation and opening of our new SRP, shaping its vision, culture and foundations. You will model high‑quality specialist teaching, ensuring provision is thoughtfully designed, rooted in strong pedagogy and responsive to pupils’ needs.

Deeply committed to inclusive practice – You will champion inclusion at every level, ensuring the SRP strengthens the school’s mainstream offer and that pupils experience belonging, high expectations and well‑planned pathways supporting academic, social and emotional progress.

Experienced, strategic and thoughtful – As part of the SLT, you will contribute to whole‑school leadership while holding strategic oversight of the SRP. You will work closely with leaders and partners to ensure the provision runs effectively, compliantly and adds value for the children it serves.

A calm, reassuring leader who builds trust – You bring ‘the sunshine’ — warmth, emotional intelligence and professional confidence — supporting staff, pupils and families through change with clarity and care. You recognise that strong provision is built through relationships as much as systems.

Committed to our values and community – Our values Believe, Wonder, Progress and Succeed guide everything we do. You will model these values, helping to create an SRP that reflects our nurturing ethos and strengthens community across the school.

About the Role…
This is a unique opportunity to join our SLT as the school prepares to open a new SRP. As Assistant Headteacher and SRP Lead, you will help shape its vision, culture and foundations, ensuring it reflects the school’s values and meets the needs of pupils and families from day one. Through your teaching, you will model high‑quality specialist practice so pupils experience both challenge and belonging from the start.

What We Offer
• A warm, welcoming and collaborative school culture
• A dedicated, talented staff team committed to every child’s success
• A strong pastoral ethos with a deep commitment to inclusion
• A community‑facing school with high aspirations, strengthened by partnerships across our Trust and the wider East Kent Colleges Group
• Opportunities for professional growth and leadership development

Who Should Apply?
This role will suit an experienced SENCo and leader of inclusion motivated by purpose and possibility. You may already be leading or working within a specialist provision, SRP or high‑needs setting, or be a school leader with strong SEND expertise seeking greater scope and responsibility.

We are looking for someone confident in shaping provision and practice, who understands that strong SEND provision grows from relationships, trust and consistency, alongside clear structures.

You do not need to have opened an SRP before, but you will bring the experience and professional confidence needed to establish strong foundations and support the provision to grow.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed on 28th and 29th April. Please contact the school office to arrange.

Information about the school

Bysing Wood is an inclusive, community‑centred primary school on the western side of Faversham. Our school is shaped by the families we serve; families with strong local ties, varied life experiences and a shared hope for their children’s future. We are proud to be a place where those hopes are met with warmth, ambition and a genuine commitment to every child.

Over the years, the school has continued to evolve, enriching its provision and strengthening its curriculum so that children experience learning that is engaging, meaningful and connected to the world around them. Our Forest School, pre‑school provision and well‑developed learning spaces all play a part in creating opportunities for curiosity, creativity and confidence to flourish.

As a founding member of EKC Schools Trust, Bysing Wood benefits from being part of a wider family of schools, colleges and specialist teams that share a commitment to raising aspirations across East Kent. This partnership strengthens the opportunities we offer our children, from enriched curriculum experiences and projects to early exposure to future pathways and access to wider expertise, resources, and community links that broaden their horizons.

What truly defines Bysing Wood is its sense of belonging. Relationships sit at the heart of everything we do, between pupils, staff and families, and we work in partnership to ensure every child feels secure, valued and supported to progress. Our approach to teaching and learning is thoughtful and purposeful, designed to help pupils build strong foundations academically while also developing resilience, character and a belief in their own potential.

Our school values — Believe, Wonder, Progress and Succeed — are woven into daily life. They reflect our belief that children thrive when they are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, stretch themselves and take pride in their achievements. These values guide our ambitions for pupils and shape the way we work together as a school community.

Bysing Wood is a school where leadership truly matters. It is a setting that values compassion, creativity and commitment, a place where a leader can make a meaningful, lasting contribution to children’s lives and to its community.
