There has never been a better time to join Aylesham Primary School. This is a very exciting time for our school as we continue our journey of positive change and growth.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Lunchtime Assistant to join our friendly, dedicated and professional team who work together to ensure all children enjoy a safe, happy and engaging lunchtime experience.

We are seeking to appoint a caring and committed Midday Supervisor to support pupils during lunchtimes across the dining hall, playground and indoor areas. The successful candidate will help maintain a safe, nurturing and positive environment, supporting children’s play, social development and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising pupils during lunch in the dining hall, playground and classrooms, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, good manners and inclusive play.
  • Supporting pupils with eating and lunchtime routines, promoting independence.
  • Ensuring the environment is clean, safe and well-organised, including managing spillages and movement around the school.
  • Building supportive relationships with children and modelling the school’s values.
  • Reporting any concerns promptly and following school policies at all time.

What we are looking for:

  • Friendly, patient, reliable and enthusiastic.
  • Able to communicate well with children and colleagues.
  • Able to relate to children’s needs and respond with care and understanding.
  • Committed to promoting positive play, inclusion and wellbeing.
  • Willing to uphold and model our school values: Motivation, Integrity, Nurture and Diversity.

Previous experience working with children is an advantage, but not essential. Basic literacy and numeracy skills are required, and training will be provided.

We are a values-led school that places children’s wellbeing and development at the heart of everything we do. Our lunchtime team plays a vital role in ensuring children feel safe, included and ready for learning each afternoon.

Information about the school

Aylesham Primary School is a two-form entry primary school in the heart of the Kent countryside, six miles south of Canterbury, serving Aylesham and the surrounding villages.

Our school is a fun, creative and positive place that provides a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment that offers opportunities for all the children "to dig deep and expand their minds".

Our mission is…‘To create a learning community that is prepared for an ever-changing future; that believes in the unlimited potential to improve themselves and others in the world around them.’ It is our intention that all children leave our school with a well-rounded education to prepare them for life, underpinned with a strong sense of morality and aspirational goals, to create new futures. In order to achieve this, our school values underpin classroom practice and are a part of our school culture and climate for learning.

Our talented and hardworking staff and Leadership Team provide an outstanding quality of care and encourage an environment where children feel confident to try out new skills both inside and outside of the classroom.

In February 2025 the school academised and joined the EKC Schools Trust. As a family of schools, colleges and business units, EKC Schools Trust and its sister organisation, the East Kent Colleges Group, are committed to raising the aspirations of all within the communities they serve. Enabling all ages to access the highest quality educational provision, helping them to grow and flourish, and achieve their ambitions.
