Are you passionate about unleashing creativity and nurturing the next generation of young artists?

We are seeking an exceptional Art Teacher to join our dynamic and forward‑thinking department. Whether you’re an experienced teacher or an enthusiastic ECT, we would love to hear from you!

Join a dynamic Art department where creativity flourishes, students consistently reach their full potential, and artistic exploration is encouraged at every stage. Our curriculum blends strong foundational skills—such as drawing, colour theory, and art history—with opportunities for students to contextualize and showcase their work progressively from KS3 all the way to A‑Level.

You will initially be teaching Key Stage 3 students with the potential for teaching across all 3 key-stages in the future (dependant on incoming student up take at GCSE & A-Level). Therefore, they should be capable of teaching Art to GCE A2 Level.

The successful applicant will be someone who can inspire students of all abilities and who wishes to add to the success of the Art department by implementing their own ideas and strategies. You must be passionate about developing pupils' confidence, as well as have strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to raising standards. This is an excellent opportunity to join a committed and innovative team and take the next step in your teaching career.

The School Context Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys, also known Boys Grammar or TWGSB was originally founded in 1956 as a technical school and later became a grammar school in 1982. It is one of the largest grammar schools in England, with over 1800 students and approximately 160 staff split across two sites.

Whilst we are Boys Grammar School, we warmly welcome female students in the Sixth Form.

Our philosophy at TWGSB is that education is about personal development and should give young people every opportunity to explore and learn about the world around them.

Vision, Values and Ethos of our school With our vision to be ‘the best selective boys’ school in West Kent’ our school community embodies a culture of all round excellence, where education is about developing the individual to explore, nurture their skills and talents and achieve their fullest potential.

The strong sense of a vibrant community is tangible to those who walk into our school, talk to our students and staff and experience first-hand the sense of pride in the school.

We are currently undergoing a period of transformational change benefitting from a multi-million pound investment in Tunbridge Wells and a brand new building at our Sevenoaks campus, which opened in September 2021. In September 2025 Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys will be one of the largest boys Grammar schools in the country. Here we all share the same vision: 'To be the best selective boys’ school in West Kent' and our journey towards achieving this continues to be an exciting one.

We can offer you the opportunity to work with highly able young people in a supportive, well-equipped and forward-thinking school. We offer a friendly and inclusive working environment and the chance to be part of a fantastic multidisciplinary team, who work hard and support each other to deliver personalised, bespoke education & care.

Living and working in Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks Both campuses are in an ideal location in which to live and work and are within 45 minutes of London by train, and are well served by Gatwick Airport.

The elegance of the Pantiles with its variety of excellent shops and restaurants, the beauty of the surrounding countryside, especially the High Weald, and the wide range of cultural and sporting facilities ensure that there is much to encourage even the most dedicated professional to enjoy some relaxation.

The historic and ancient town of Sevenoaks is closer to London than Tunbridge Wells. It is another popular place to live, offering many of the opportunities of the capital while located in the Garden of Kent. Lose yourself in wonderful Knole Park, with its wandering wild deer and historic house and end up on Sevenoaks high street in one of its lovely restaurants or cafes.

And if you don’t fancy living in either area, the surrounding villages provide excellent residential property within a commutable distance.
