This is a unique and rewarding headship opportunity within a welcoming two-form entry infant school, dedicated to giving our youngest learners the very best start. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in embedding strong foundations for future learning, while also contributing to leadership across the federation to ensure all children thrive throughout their primary education.

The school benefits from well-established and effective systems, including the RED TED home reading scheme, Little Wandle Phonics, strong SEND provision and a skills-based curriculum. This role offers the opportunity to build on these solid foundations, bringing fresh ideas and strategic direction while being supported by robust, proven practices. Close partnership with our junior school fosters continuous professional dialogue, shared expertise, joint CPD, and aligned policies, creating meaningful opportunities for collaboration. In addition, the federation structure provides valuable supervision and a strong focus on leader wellbeing.

Our federation is part of a dynamic Peer Review collaboration group with eight other local schools, enabling school leaders to work together to drive improvement, share best practice, and achieve strong outcomes for all pupils. This partnership supports collaboration in teaching and learning, SEND provision and curriculum development while promoting consistency and high standards. It also enhances professional development at every level, offering opportunities for leadership dialogue, moderation and problem-solving within a supportive and well-connected network.

Staff at the infant school fully embrace the federation’s vision and values, fostering a culture of care, collaboration and ambition, for pupils, families, and colleagues alike. They are forward-thinking and open to innovation with a clear focus on enabling every child to make excellent progress.

A dedicated cross-federation Family Liaison Officer provides daily support to families, alongside workshops, pastoral care and targeted provision such as young carer groups. This role works closely with the SENCO, who also operates across both schools, ensuring a consistent and inclusive approach for all stakeholders. The school is further supported by an experienced Business Manager overseeing financial and operational management and a well-connected SENCO who works closely with external agencies and local networks.

Safeguarding is a key strength with a cross-federation team of trained Designated Safeguarding Leads including Headteachers, Deputy Headteachers and the Family Liaison Officer. Regular meetings ensure robust monitoring, timely action and a proactive approach to safeguarding.

The federation is supported by a highly effective governing board, which places a strong emphasis on leadership wellbeing. Leaders benefit from regular wellbeing check-ins, external appraisal and access to professional coaching.

Information about the school

We are a small federation, consisting of our Infant and Junior schools. We created our federation seven years ago in order to ensure consistently strong practice across the primary phase. As a federation, we pride ourselves on our strong community. We have positive relationships with parents and our children feel happy, safe and demonstrate a real willingness to learn.

While still two separate schools with our own identities, we share a governing body and the leadership team work very closely together on a shared vision. This enables us to provide our pupils with the best chance of success.

Children are at the heart of all of our decision-making and we are passionate about sharing our strong practice with the community. Visits to the school are highly encouraged – we would love you to see what makes us unique.

The school benefits from strong relationships with families and a deep understanding of the local community.

“The whole family is part of the school and not just the pupils. It’s a warm, welcoming environment for all. Happy to have my child in this school.” – Parent

“Pupils flourish at this inclusive and welcoming school.” - Ofsted

Tours are welcome and encouraged on the 21st, 22nd and 24th April 2026. To arrange, please contact Cathy Smith: infheadteacher@flourishfederation.kent.sch.uk
