New Line Learning Academy is seeking to appoint an ambitious and inspirational Second-in-Charge of Science to support the leadership and continued development of our Science department.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing department with strong leadership at both Head of Science and Assistant Headteacher level, providing clear direction, support and ambition. It is an ideal role for a talented teacher ready to take the next step into leadership within a school committed to improvement and excellence.

Science at New Line Learning Academy is a collaborative, forward-thinking and evolving department, with a strong focus on high-quality teaching and continuous improvement. We have recently refurbished two of our laboratories, benefit from additional teaching spaces, and are continuing to develop innovative approaches to curriculum delivery, including the use of technology, with all Year 7 students equipped with their own laptops.

At Key Stage 4, students follow AQA Combined Science: Trilogy, delivered through an ambitious curriculum for all, supported by a personalised pathway at KS4. Across all key stages, there is a strong emphasis on knowledge, literacy and the development of analytical thinking, ensuring students are well prepared for further study and future pathways.

As Second-in-Charge, you will support the strategic and operational leadership of the department, working closely with the Head of Science to drive standards, support colleagues and ensure all students achieve their potential.

We place a strong emphasis on developing leaders for the future, and this role offers clear progression opportunities into roles such as Head of Department, Lead Practitioner or Senior Leadership. You will benefit from high-quality coaching, professional development and opportunities to contribute to whole-school improvement.
