Advert

Brenchley and Matfield CE Primary School is a thriving and vibrant 1FE primary school, with 210 pupils on roll.

Our Church of England primary school is at the heart of local community. We offer our pupils a carefully designed, broad, creative and inspirational curriculum that enables them to develop the knowledge and skills they need to achieve their full educational and personal potential.  Together with the Tenax Schools Trust, we are a school committed to embedding the most effective evidence informed approaches to teaching and learning.

We enjoy good facilities with spacious classrooms, and generous outdoor spaces in which our learners can play, learn and grow.

We are looking to recruit a strong, confident class teacher to join our existing experienced, dedicated staff team, commitmed to delivering a transformative education to every child, especially our most vulnerable learners. It is important for us to find the right person and therefore we are open to candidates who can teach in either Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.

You will be passionate about providing a high quality education that is truly transformative. You will set high expectations for yourself and your learners and deliver an exciting and engaging curriculum. You will share and live our values of humility, compassion , grace, forgiveness and integrity.

In return, we can offer evidence-based professional development and access to teacher networks across the Trust where you can grow your practice further. Amitious candidates will find access to wider Trust opportunities such as supporting the delivery of aspects of Teaching School Hub work, including initial teacher training and NPQ delivery.

Please visit our website to gain further insight into our school. This can only give you a glimpse of our school, so we encourage all candidates considering an application to visit in person.

If you share our passion for providing excellence in education, inspiring young people and delivering a transformative education to every child, we would love to hear from you.

Completed application forms should be sent to hr@tenaxschoolstrust.co.uk. Whilst the advert closes sooner, we welcome completed application forms until midday on Monday 20 April 2026.

Information about the school

We are a delightful one form entry Church of England school, rated Good by Ofsted.

We pride ourselves on our strong Christian ethos promoting strong family, carers and community values. We have very close links with All Saint’s Church, Brenchley and St Luke’s Church in Matfield. We are leading contributors in collaborative learning projects enhanced by our membership of the Tenax Schools Trust, a number of local partnerships and our involvement in the wider Teaching Alliance.

The School was founded in 1842 (before the state was actively involved in education) by the Church to serve our local, and wider community and as such this remains our mission today. Our aim is to serve all children and their families of any or no religion, heritage and culture.

We currently have more than 200 pupils on roll. A staff of 8 teachers, supported by teaching assistants and support staff, delivering the curriculum to 7 classes, ranging from the rising 5s to 11-year-olds.

We enjoy good facilities and heavily promote the use of outdoor space and learning opportunities with exciting and stimulating play areas including a well-managed and used forest area plus a large field, surrounded by trees and meadows. This includes a conservation area, netball courts and a full-sized football pitch.

Our classrooms are both colourful and spacious. We especially enjoy celebrating our learning by proudly adorning our walls with our wonderful children’s hard work and efforts. We promote the use of technology and have a modern ICT Suite. We are fully networked with first class security protection and controls that are exercised diligently. We are lucky to have a large school hall, which is perfect to enjoy our celebrations for both school worship and whole school assemblies, rather unique given we have separate dining area and kitchen. Our library is well stocked in addition to a SEN area and other separate areas for group or individual learning.

We are immensely fortunate to have a very strong and hugely supportive Local Committee who work collaboratively with us to ensure the best educational and spiritual experience for all our children in our care. Our Parent Teachers Association is hugely valued by our wider school community and again serve us exceptionally well with their hugely successful fundraising events.

We aim to give you a flavour of our school here, but you can only truly experience how special our school is by coming to visit. We are always pleased to welcome visitors into our school and to provide the children with these additional opportunities to demonstrate their successes.
