Information about the school

Bishop Chavasse Church of England Primary School is a two form entry school and a member of the Tenax Schools Trust. We opened in September 2017 and are located in South Tonbridge (postcode TN11 0FB).

Pupils moved into our new, state of the art school building in April 2019. We have:

• Spacious classrooms along two easy to navigate corridors – one for EYFS and Key Stage 1, and one for Key Stage 2; • Outdoor areas including designated play and sports areas for EYFS, KS1 and KS2: sports field, trim trails, climbing walls, outdoor classroom, prayer gardens and a richly equipped, carefully designed Forest School area; • A bright, spacious and well stocked library; • Quiet learning spaces outside the classrooms for personalised teaching; • A dedicated room for music lessons; • A fully equipped sensory room; • Play therapist with a dedicated play therapy space; • Daily Collective Worship where the school comes together to worship and reflect; • On site kitchen facilities providing a choice of healthy, nutritious lunches every day; • Wraparound care from 7.30am to 6.30pm; comprising a variety of after school Enrichment clubs ranging from pottery and gardening to dodgeball and drama as well as a daily breakfast club.

Our dedicated, passionate staff, supported by parents, governors and the Tenax Schools Trust are committed to nurturing our community to achieve excellence together in an environment where everyone is wise, trustworthy and compassionate. We hope that pupils will be guided by our vision and supported in life through understanding the power of our values of wisdom, compassion and honesty as they seek to make a positive difference to the world.

Our Church of England primary school is at the heart of our local community, where staff, parents and children are flourishing through working, learning and playing together. As a Church of England school, Bishop Chavasse is linked with two local churches: St Stephen’s Church and St Peter and St Paul, and we work closely with the Rochester Diocesan Board of Education to ensure our Christian ethos is theologically rooted and permeates every avenue of our school community, teaching and learning.

The Tenax Schools Trust is a strong and growing family of seven primary schools, one secondary school, the Kent Teaching School Hub and an initial teacher training provider, Teach Kent & Sussex. Our Trust includes Church of England and community schools, who are united by a shared ambition for our pupils. We welcome pupils and families from all backgrounds and from all faiths and none
