About the Department

Business plays an important role in helping students understand enterprise, entrepreneurship and the wider economic world. Our curriculum encourages students to think critically about real-world business issues while developing transferable skills such as problem solving, communication and financial awareness.

We support staff through:

• Weekly subject-specific CPD and collaboration with external partners
• Opportunities to engage with outstanding schools and subject specialists

The Role

As a Teacher of Business, you will:
• Teach Business Studies to GCSE, with potential KS5 opportunities depending on experience
• Participate in a strong professional development programme
• Benefit from highly effective behaviour systems that support excellent teaching
• Receive personalised induction, coaching and developmental learning walks
• Contribute to the development of an ambitious Business curriculum

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Hold QTS and be able to teach Business to KS3 and GCSE (KS5 desirable)
    • Be reflective, innovative and committed to continuous improvement
    • Demonstrate a track record of supporting strong student progress
    • Be motivated to make a positive impact on young people
    • Bring enthusiasm, subject passion and a values-driven approach to teaching

All successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure, Occupational Health check, two satisfactory references, an online check, and, where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check. A mixed 11-19 co-educational High School of 1,000 pupils serving the historic market town of West Malling and surrounding villages. The school is set in pleasant rural surroundings and has its own lake and extensive grounds.

West Malling is close to the county town of Maidstone and has excellent rail links to London and Ashford
