Luton Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and skilled EYFS Lead to join our vibrant and inclusive community. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional practitioner to lead our Early Years team and help shape outstanding provision.

About the Role

As EYFS Lead, you will play a key role in shaping the early learning experience for our youngest children. You will lead the EYFS and Year 1 team with passion, creativity and a drive for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Planning

  • Lead the delivery of a high‑quality, creative EYFS curriculum for Nursery and Reception.
  • Oversee Year 1 planning and progress, ensuring strong continuous provision.
  • Ensure learning meets a wide range of needs and develops children’s independence.
  • Monitor progress, analyse data and report to the Head of School.

Leadership & Management

  • Support, guide and develop the EYFS and Year 1 team.
  • Lead staff training, development and appraisal.
  • Manage resources, daily operations and the EYFS budget.
  • Prepare for Ofsted and drive high‑quality practice across the phase.

Communication

  • Build positive relationships with parents, staff, governors and the wider community.
  • Work with local authority advisors and ensure smooth transition into KS1.
  • Communicate effectively with all children, including those with SEND.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Promote children’s health, wellbeing and safety.
  • Manage behaviour appropriately.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Full and relevant early years qualification.
  • Early years professional status with training in assessment, observation and planning.
  • Minimum two years’ leadership/management experience in EYFS.
  • Strong knowledge of EYFS framework, curriculum and legislation.
  • Proven ability to monitor progress and maintain high teaching standards.
  • Ability to lead curriculum development.
