An exciting opportunity has arisen at Stelling Minnis CE Primary School to join our team as a Teaching Assistant supporting our children’s needs.

Perhaps you are looking for a new challenge, or wanting to gain classroom experience. Our school provides a nurturing environment surrounded by an impressive outdoor learning environment with the most wonderful children. And of course you will get to know our neighbours comprising of alpacas, sheep, geese and more!

Despite our remote location, we are conveniently located a short distance from Folkestone, Ashford and Canterbury with ample room for staff parking.

We are seeking a professional individual, who is confident in dealing with children's individual and specific needs, is a team player and is committed to improving the outcomes of all our young people.

We require an organised professional who has:

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • High standard of English and Maths
  • Level 2/3 in Teaching and Learning in School or equivalent experience.
  • The ability to liaise with staff, parents and professionals, offering support and challenge as appropriate.
  • The ability to work using your own initiative at a highly professional level.
  • A secure knowledge of safeguarding.
  • A thorough understanding of differing needs and vulnerability of children. 
  • A belief in inclusion, diversity and the right of each child to be successful whatever their needs, abilities and background.
  • Ability to work as part of a hardworking, enthusiastic and committed team.

 

Salary will be paid at Kent Scheme A.

Term Time Contract - Working Hours 8.45am- 3:20pm with a 30 minute break. Overtime is also available at our After School Club 3.20- 6pm.

Visits to the school are actively encouraged prior to shortlisting date. 

This position is a temporary contract, in the first instance, to 31st march 2027

Information about the school

We are a small rural primary school, set between the villages of Bossingham and Stelling Minnis, six miles south of Canterbury and 12 miles from Folkestone. Our history dates back to 1784 and we are one of the oldest schools in Kent. We are a Good school (Ofsted) and were judged Outstanding as a Church School (Diocesan Inspection).
We have a strong Christian ethos throughout the school, with a team of friendly and dedicated teachers, support staff and governors. We have delightful, enthusiastic children who are eager to learn. This year, we started Farm School with our neighbouring farm and are keen to explore further creative opportunities for our young people so if you think you could make a difference please get in touch!
