SEN Teacher - Nore Academy- Full-time

Nore Academy is a brand-new SEN school that has recently on the Isle of Sheppey.

We opened our doors early in 2025. We cater for young people aged 11-16 with a primary need of SEMH and other related areas of SEN such as ASD and communication difficulties. We have been steadily growing our numbers and the commissioned amount for 2026-2027 is 120.

We are looking to recruit an additional SEN teachers who can teach a range of subjects in a largely primary model, however we would especially like to hear from you if you have maths or science as a specialist subject area as it is likely that as the school expands and more teaching staff are recruited, teaching roles will become more specialist. Above all we are looking for highly skilled but also flexible teaching staff who can work collaboratively.

This role will suit experienced SEN practitioners, primary teachers or secondary subject specialists. We are particularly interested in candidates with significant experience supporting young people with SEMH, PDA and ODD.

All successful candidates will have ambitious expectations for all pupils and a desire to drive high standards and educational outcomes. All successful candidates will also have a willingness to take on new skills and approaches to meet pupils educational and emotional needs.

Who we are looking for:

Qualified teachers or ECTs with experience in SEN, primary or secondary education be that within special or mainstream.

  • Candidates with the subject knowledge and classroom practice to teach across both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, over a range of subjects and ideally with maths or science as a specialist subject.
  • A commitment to motivating learners while challenging and supporting them to achieve their potential.
  • Candidates who are child-centred, organised, resourceful and proactive.
  • Candidates with a desire to continually improve own teaching and classroom practice.

This is a full-time, permanent position on teachers’ pay scale open to UQT/ECT/MPS/UPS + SEN allowance.

About Us:

Nore Academy Island caters to students aged 11-16, providing a nurturing environment that supports both emotional well-being and academic achievement. Since opening, we’ve welcomed 60 pupils across KS3 and KS4, with plans to grow to 72 places within the coming months. Will Adams Academy is located in Gillingham and joined Alternative Learning Trust in April 2022. The school has recently reorganised their structure and is working closely with our Gravesend school in sharing facilities, expertise and curriculum development. Ofsted outcome – Good. Will Adams is our smallest Kent & Medway hub school with only 45 children, but it is also home to our exceptional SEMH Assessment Centre and Apollo Training programmes which are commissioned by the Medway Local Authority.

Background to Estuary Academy Island

Estuary Academy Island is located on the Isle of Sheppey, is our Alternative provision which initially opened in September 2024 to provide education for up to 115 students. It offers a broad and balanced learning journey for students in Years 7 – 11 with a broad range of vocational qualifications available as well as traditional GCSEs in core subjects. Our aim is to provide pathways which lead to exciting onward opportunities in education or workplaces.
