About the Role
 
As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant / Sports Coach, you will play a key role within our PPA team, delivering high‑quality PE curriculum cover across all year groups and supporting wider learning across the school.
 
You will have the opportunity to help shape our PE provision, support pupils of all abilities, and contribute to our strong culture of physical activity and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
 
PE & Sports Coaching
  • Teach primary-aged children the full PE curriculum.
  • Plan, prepare, deliver and assess:
    • PE curriculum sessions
    • CPD lessons
    • PPA cover
    • Extra‑curricular clubs
    • Wider programmes that enhance the school’s sporting culture
  • Ensure all PE equipment is set up, maintained, stored and returned correctly.
  • Take responsibility for agreed areas of PE enrichment.
Pupil Support
  • Ensure pupils identified for additional support can fully access the curriculum.
  • Highlight learning needs to class teachers and agree strategies for support.
  • Monitor pupil participation and progress, providing feedback to teachers.
  • Support pupils in engaging positively with lesson objectives.
  • Promote constructive behaviour and contribute to a purposeful, safe, encouraging learning environment.
Curriculum & School Support
  • Maintain records of pupils’ progress.
  • Contribute to evaluation, review and target‑setting processes.
  • Support teachers in delivering positive and engaging learning experiences.
  • Join a curriculum team and take responsibility for organising linked resources.
  • Communicate professionally with external agencies as required.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience delivering sports coaching to children aged 5–11 in a school environment
  • HLTA qualification
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of the PE national curriculum and the ability to deliver it effectively through sport
