This role would suit an ambitious English specialist ready to take their next step into leadership. You will be supported by our SLT, including the recently promoted Head of English, who brings first-hand experience of leading the department successfully, and will also work closely with colleagues at our neighbouring secondary school, benefiting from strong support links and shared practice.

As Head of English, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership to drive high standards of teaching, learning, and achievement.
  • Shape and refine a rich, engaging English curriculum that empowers every student to reach their full potential.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop an enthusiastic team of teachers, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and shared success.
  • Champion literacy and a love of learning across the Academy, ensuring that every young person’s voice and potential are recognised.

At New Line Learning Academy, we are proud to provide a warm, supportive and ambitious environment where both students and staff are empowered to thrive. We champion academic excellence while nurturing individuality, creativity and personal ambition, ensuring every young person, and every colleague, feels valued, inspired and capable of success.

As an all-ability school at the heart of our community, we foster a strong sense of belonging and inclusivity. Wellbeing sits at the centre of everything we do. Our caring and respectful culture enables students to flourish as confident, kind and well-rounded individuals who are ready to learn and contribute positively to the world around them.

Our Creative Curriculum has been carefully designed in direct response to the needs of our students and community, with creativity seen not only as artistic expression, but as a way of thinking, problem-solving and engaging with the world. Students benefit from a rich and broad Key Stage 3 experience that extends beyond the National Curriculum, embracing art and design technologies, computing, performing arts and sport alongside strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, wellbeing and resilience. At Key Stage 4, our personalised pathways, Ambition, Excellence and Aspire, ensure that every learner is supported, challenged and guided towards a future that reflects their strengths, interests and goals

Our modern and inspirational facilities, including specialist spaces for drama, music, dance, sport, science and ICT, allow us to deliver engaging and innovative learning experiences that stretch curious minds and encourage students to step beyond their comfort zones. We are proud of a culture where creativity is celebrated, diversity is embraced and every voice matters.
