Teaching Assistant (Early Years experience preferred)

Are you a passionate, creative, and nurturing individual looking to make a real difference in children’s lives? Victoria Road Primary School is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our friendly, one-form entry school on a term-time only temporary contract. Hours are 8:30 – 3:20 (with 30 minutes for lunch), five days a week. Salary is negotiable.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working in a primary school, ideally with Early Years (Reception) children
  • Understands child development and brings a fun, creative approach to learning
  • Is a kind, nurturing team player who puts children’s interests first
  • Is flexible, highly motivated, and keen to work collaboratively
  • Has a growth mindset and a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Has relevant qualifications or training for the role

Information about the school

Victoria Road Primary School is a small one-form entry school. There is a maximum of 30 children in each class and the total school roll is 210.

The school is more than 100 years old, but is in good condition despite its age. It is located close to the centre of Ashford and is only 5 minutes walk from the main railway station and International Station. We have a field and several playgrounds. All classrooms are well resourced with support from teaching assistants.

Our children, primarily coming from south Ashford, are friendly and a pleasure to teach. The school is popular in the area we serve with a friendly and dedicated staff who have an ethos of sharing and support.

The school was judged as Good in its last inspection carried out by Ofsted (May 2024) This identified many strengths including, a strong shared vision and 100% of staff who are overwhelmingly proud to be part of the school and the wonderful behaviour of our children.
