Looking to develop your career in a Primary Federation with a variety of potential teaching opportunities?  Goudhurst & Kilndown and Benenden Primary Schools federated on 1 April 2020 to become the 10:10 Primary Federation and we are looking for passionate educators.

Are you an aspiring ECT looking for your first teaching role or perhaps an experienced teacher looking for a new challenge? If so, then we may be the place for you; our two schools value personal development and are looking for an experienced KS1/KS2 teacher, or enthusiastic ECT, to provide maternity cover in our school, from Term 5, until March 2027.

This is a one-year fixed appointment, to cover maternity absence, with a five-day teaching commitment for the remainder of this school year, dropping to a four-day teaching commitment from September 2026. This contract will end in March 2027.

As a staff, we share the belief that all pupils, regardless of their conditions in life, can achieve excellent outcomes when surrounded and supported by talented teachers with high expectations and purpose driven parents and carers. We know that learning in primary school can transform a child's life, and aim for all of our pupils to achieve our vision of living 'life in all its fullness'. We are looking for highly adventurous, energetic and innovative individuals, who will embody and model the core values of our Federation;  Curiosity, Courage, Compassion and Commitment. In your application, we would love to hear all about you - what skills, knowledge and experience would you bring to our team. Do you have any particular curriculum strengths and experience of subject leadership?

Shortlisted candidates will be notified by email.  In addition, we are seeking someone who:

  • Has an innovative and creative approach to teaching and learning.
  • Is digitally literate and knows how and when to incorporate it into their own teaching practice.
  • Is passionate about collaborative practice
  • Has a strong team ethos
  • Possesses a sense of humour
  • Is resilient
  • Is a reflective practitioner
  • Is ‘outward facing’ in terms of their attitude towards evidence based practice in school.
  • Has an interest or experience in outdoor learning/leading Forest School
  • Is committed to supporting extra-curricular activities

In return we can offer an attractive and extremely well resourced working environment, a highly motivated and dedicated team of staff who are committed to school improvement, professional development and the achievement for all pupils, motivated and happy children, a supportive governing body and friendly parents.

Visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged - come and see us in action! For more information, or to arrange a visit, please contact the school office on 01580 211365 or email the Acting Headteacher via ryan.laker@goudhurst-kilndown.kent.sch.uk

Information about the federation

The 10:10 Primary Federation has been formed through the collaboration of Goudhurst and Kilndown and Benenden CE Primary Schools, both situated in small picturesque villages in the Weald of Kent.

Goudhurst & Kilndown Primary School which was graded Outstanding in all areas during our most recent Ofsted (February 2025) and SIAMS inspections; Benenden Primary was graded Good by Ofsted in 2022, and achieved a successful SIAMS inspection in Spring 2026.

The catchment areas are mixed, with children from a wide variety of backgrounds. Both our schools are very well equipped and our facilities are excellent.

We place high value on developing the ‘whole child’. Academically, we offer a broad and balanced curriculum, rich with outdoor learning opportunities; we have established Forest Schools in both schools which all children experience.

Children's well-being and mental health is of an equal high priority; the learning and pastoral support from within and outside of the schools fully support this.
